Inhabitants of Fier frequently visit the four-kilometer-long Seman Beach (Plazhi i Semanit) in the summertime. The sandy beach is up to several hundred metres wide, with several natural lagoons between it and the coastal pine forest.
Due to the sandy nature of the beach, the water is often murky, but the further out to sea you swim, the clearer the water will become. The bottom drops only gradually so it is suitable for children. You can rent an umbrella here, but you’ll be looking in vain for fresh water to take a shower.
Strong erosion, which “cuts” several tens of centimetres of the shoreline annually, is the characteristic feature of the beach. Many of the bunkers constructed on the seashore during the communist era are already submerged in water. Even the foot of the tower, which was formerly on the beach, is now entirely in the sea.
From Fier, it is 15 kilometres to the beach on a decent asphalt road.
