The breathtaking Rasal waterfall (Ujëvara e Rasalit) is a newly discovered gem on Albania’s tourist map, having only recently gained attention from the public. It makes for a perfect day trip from Vlorë, and can also be visited on your way to the sea via the Shushica Valley.
Located near the village of Velçë, the waterfall is accessible via a gravel road that turns off the main road through the Shushica Valley in several switchbacks. The road, which is navigable by all vehicles, spans approximately six kilometers but is made challenging by numerous potholes.

From Velçë, continue on foot for just over half an hour along the marked trail. This will take you up the hillside of the scenic valley to a gorge blanketed with lush vegetation, at the end of which, in a natural rock amphitheater, you will find the waterfall itself (see route).

Among the local attractions is also the Velça Cave (Shpella e Velçës), which, like many other caves in the area, has been inhabited since the neolithic. Today, due to a special construction, it serves as a stable for sheep and goats.
In Velçë, there are two bars where you can relax and have a drink. The closest accommodation is a guesthouse in the mountain village of Bashaj. The road from Velçë continues there, but it is only suitable for off-road vehicles. The owners provide free transportation.
